Stories, standards, and real work beneath the surface
I’m T.J. Spracklin, a lifelong flooring installer, craftsman, and storyteller from the heart of America. For more than thirty years, I’ve worked on my knees with a knife, a straightedge, and jobs that had to be right the first time—hotels, casinos, office buildings, garages, and family homes. That work taught me something most people never see: what lies beneath the surface matters more than what shows on top.
My fiction grew out of those years on the floor. The Seams of Power saga and The Last Seam books take real-world pressure, craftsmanship, pattern, and hidden systems and turn them into blue-collar suspense. I started asking a simple question: what does power look like if it isn’t in a boardroom, but under people’s feet? The answer became stories about hidden corridors, buried networks, dangerous jobs, and the cost of doing the work right.
My professional books come from that same place. Installers’ Playbook, Laying It Down Right, and The SGFIS Standard are built from real jobs, real failures, and real-world flooring experience. Whether you’re here for the fiction, the standards, or both, welcome.
